Vision and Values
Co-op Academy Brierley
Vision and values
At Co-op Academy Brierley we will enable all our pupils to be safe, secure, feel valued and happy. We will support them to reach their full potential, to make positive contributions, placing our pupils at the centre of all we do. We aim to promote equality of opportunity for every member of the school community regardless of gender, race or disability.
We will provide an experience of learning within a community where understanding and respecting the needs of other people are emphasised. Pupils are given a voice and are encouraged to play an active role in their educational journey.
Each student’s own needs are at the heart of our curriculum, which is flexible and personalised and focuses on communication, literacy, numeracy and life skills. We aim to prepare our students for their future so they are ready to move on from us. When our children leave Brierley they will be ready for the next steps in their journey.
We aspire to be a centre of excellence for pupils, their families, staff and the wider community offering outstanding inclusive and enjoyable lifelong opportunities.
Our Co-op Values: All of this is based upon the co-operative values which will inform our behaviours.
-
Self-help – we help ourselves to improve, developing skills and independence to support ourselves and make a positive contribution
-
Self-responsibility – We take responsibility for our behaviours and actions
-
Democracy – We have a say in how we run our academy and we will contribute our ideas to make the academy a success.
-
Equality – We ensure everyone’s voice can be heard and that everyone has equal access to opportunities.
-
Equity – We are fair and unbiased so that everyone has an equal chance
-
Solidarity – We share interests and a common purpose. We achieve more by working together, rather than as individuals.
We demonstrate our ethical values in everything we do:
-
Openness – we believe in open two way communication with everyone in our schools and beyond sharing information and ideas to raise standards and life chances
-
Honesty – we act in a professional, honest and respectful manner in our dealings with everyone
-
Social responsibility – we maximise our impact on the people in our communities while minimising our footprint on the world
-
Caring for Others – we treat everyone as we wish to be treated ourselves, understanding that children only have one childhood
We live the ‘Ways of Being Co-op’:
-
Succeed together – Cooperating is what makes us different; we’re better and stronger when we work together.
-
Be yourself, always – We bring our best self to the academy, so that we each contribute and respect others for doing the same.
-
Do what matters most – What matters most is ensuring that our students achieve their best personnel outcomes.
-
Show you care – We care about our students, their parents, our colleagues, our communities, our Trust and Co-op values, now and for the future.
