Animal Therapy at Brierley
Our friends at Catch in Harehills have kindly donated animal hutches and some new guinea pigs. We now have a wonderful ‘Guinea Grotto’ to start the Brierley Farm and we will soon be collecting 13 girl guineas for our ‘Animal Well being officers’ to take good care of. If you have any ideas for names please send them to class dojo and if your child would like the role of Animal Well-being officer’ (responsible for animal care) please let your teacher know, jobs will be advertised shortly.
This is Mowgli our school dog who will join us each Friday. He is a cocker spaniel and LOVES children and to play with his ball. We will be learning how to train Mowgli and to stay in the GREEN zone by taking a Mowgli breath to show him we are calm, safe and ready for learning.
Communication for Learning
Communication boards are used across our Pathways to support our pre-verbal children to express their wants and needs. They are also used for our verbal learners to help them to process their thinking and select from a limited number of safe options. Here are some examples of Communication boards in action this week and if you would like to use them at home please speak with your class teacher who will support you.
